My name is Richard Lebert and I am a Registered Massage Therapist practicing in Petrolia. I am writing to introduce myself and tell you about the work I do.

Massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissues and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain. It is my intention to use massage therapy as an essential support for the patients’ health care plan and will provide quality care for patients.

My practice has a focus in: sports injuries and low back pain. Prior to moving back to Petrolia I had been working at The Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine clinic seeing wide variety of patients. In addition to my massage therapy diploma from Lambton College I also hold certification in Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University.

Recent research on the effectiveness of massage therapy for low back pain suggests that soft tissue irritation and subsequent nerve sensitization may be a major contributor to low back symptoms (Courtney et al. 2017). Furthermore massage therapy may improve health related quality of life outcomes for those with low back pain (Traeger et al. 2017).

I work with a variety of musculoskeletal dysfunctions and create a customized, outcome-driven treatment plan for each patient to address their health needs. Based on current Best Practice Guidelines from The Canadian Medical Association, massage therapy can be a beneficial treatment option for patients suffering from back pain, knee osteoarthritis, neck pain, fibromyalgia, severe headaches or migraines (Busse et al. 2017).

Please contact me if you would like to discuss any of this information in depth, or if you are looking for a professional, dedicated Registered Massage Therapist committed to providing high quality health care.
